Carbon Nanotubes
This is not a model in the molymod range, but one I made to shown how graphene can be rolled up into a carbon nanotube. It gave the students much to discuss about new materials and composite materials. Making bullet resistant material was a fun topic to look at these materials.

Templates
Templates are sometimes useful for science and maths. This one helps with the 3D drawings, especially of prisms, although not so good for life like diagrams. Others help get better drawing of science equipment.

Look into my eyes
Using a close up camera to see how the iris works and using the @pasco human demo eye to see how it works in practice by putting in an iris in the eye. It is also useful to use a camera lens to show the camera T-stops in action.

3 Liquids
Three different liquids. All looked like water but they were not what the students expected. I was surprised how many students naturally assumed a clear liquid would be water.

How the eye works
By changing the amount of water in this @pasco lens used in the demo eye model the students were able to use the same lens to create both concave and convex lenses and gain a better idea how the eye worked.

Sometimes we just need to get the pullies out in Maths.
Maths is largely an abstract subject, but sometimes when studying subjects like Mechanics, then it is necessary to get the pullies out to improve our understanding of the problem and then the quality of the learning increases dramatically.

Rapid V/I Curves
Using @pascoscientific voltage-current sensor with the wireless airlink to create a very fast V/I straightline for a resistor and a not so straight line for a bulb.

Goldleaf Electroscope
I really hadn't appreciated how hard it would be to get a gold-leaf electroscope working. The first model I had used dutch metal and I couldn't get it to work, but this model with real gold leaf did work eventually with me leaning how to attached the gold leaf properly. Putting the gold-leaf on is really quite difficult until you know how.

Woolly Human Gut
A few years ago my wife knitted the entire human gut. It is popular with the students as it is fun to hold and it is life-size so they a sense of the scales and proportion of the gut. It also fits in an abdomen sized clear bag which shows more what if looks like in the body.

Investigating Heating and cooling
Investigating Heating and cooling using a couple of @pascoscientific wireless thermometers and Capstone. The difference was very dramatic and was much better than using a Leslie cube and different coloured cans. #iteachphysics

Using an Oximeter
One of the fun things we do, testing whether the students have a heartbeat and their Oxygen stats. Some students with painted nails appear to be dead!

Investigating the energy in different fuels
Looking at different alcohols to see how they compare. The equipment doesn’t work well due to the heat loss, so it is up to the students to design a better experiment.

Ninja star 2
Unlike the last Ninja star video where the Ninja star is on the VdGG this time its the electrons from the Ninja star that are being used to neutralise the charge on the Van de Graaff generators dome and this causes motion.

The Ninja Star
The Ninja Star is actually called a Hamilton's mill but in physics it's called a Electrostatic pinwheel. The reason it gets spinning is because the spinner is positively charged, like the dome. Each point has a strong electric field around it. Air molecules close to the points lose electrons and become positively charged ions - their electrons were attracted to the points and used to neutralise some of the charge on the dome. Positively charged ions are repelled by the positive star's points and move away. The points move in the opposite direction (Newton's 3rd law) so the star Spins.

Thermoelectric Converter
Having some fun with the thermoelectric converter, Ice cold water on one side and near boiling water on the other and getting the fan to spin for quite a while, then repeating with different temperatures in both and timing the fan movement.

Covalent Bond Revision
Using @snatoms to help with GCSE Chemistry Revision. The models are so quick to made and the students really enjoy these so much more than other s we have. We made dozens of models in a few minutes.

I find this one of Physics bits of magic how total internal reflection works. Creates lots of fun predicting what might happen and then trying it out and seeing that something else happens and then trying to come up with an explanation and a rule. Real Science
