Simple Harmonic Motion Pendulum

Investigating more A level #Physics Simple Harmonic Motion using @pascoscientific metre rule and the rotary motion sensor. The students were finding out how changing the mass and the length of the pendulum affected the period. #iteachphysics

Furure Foods

New Video on Future Foods. https://youtu.be/IJXQmMu_IRE

We look at what foods will will need to consider eating in the near future. #climatechange #ClimateTwitter #education

Force table

Teaching A Level #Physics online using a force table. The student needed to tell me which hander to add and remove masses to achieve balanced forces. With some students still isolating it is essential that they do some practical work #iteachphysics

Making a Salt from an insoluble metal oxide and Acid

A busy morning making Copper Sulfate from Copper Oxide and Sulfuric Acid. The students enjoy doing the practicals they are not able or allowed to do at school. This one is a required practical that the school only told them about. #teaching I made a full video of this on YouTube which is very popular.

Human Eye

Using the @pascoscientific model of the human eye to teach A level #Physics students about how the les in the eye works and how glasses solve problems in the eye. #iteachphysics

Changing the shape of the lens in human eye model

Using the @pascoscientific adjustable lens in the human eye model and with ray boxes. Its great to be able to show the biology and physics students how the human eye lens works getting thicker and thinner rather than using fixed shaped lenses. #iteachphysics #teaching

The lens consists of two sheets of plastic with water in the middle and connected to a syringe. If water is pushed into the eye the lens gets fatter and becomes convex in shape. As water is removed the lens becomes concave in shape.. Adjusting the amount of water changes the dioptre of the lens. Fascinating to watch and use.
