Titrations

 Learning to do accurate titrations is important. Rather than doing one we have a go at doing 20-30 getting better and better learning new skills. We start practising with water to improve accuracy. #iteachchemistry #Science #STEM

Spark from a wimshurst machine

 

Trying to capture the spark from a Wimshurst machine is far more difficult than I imagined. I had to take loads of photographs to get one. I tried using the video and capturing an image but that has not as good as I wanted, but high speed motor drive got it every time. 

Plasma Ball

 One of things I left out in the classroom for the students to find out and play with and start asking questions.

Halide tests

Testing for the halides, first was distilled water no halide, then surprised students, tap water with chlorine, to kill off the bugs, then chloride bromide and iodide

Playing with potential energy to kinetic energy with some rotational energy thrown in, to give the A level physicists a hard day

Making a pH curve

 Using the @pascoscientific drop counter and pH probe, Temperature senor and chemistry sensor and the electric conductivity probe, to make a pH curve with the students using Capstone.

Newtons Cradle

 I was surprised how many students didn't predict what would happen in newtons cradle. I was amazed how many students hadn't seen one before. #iteachphysics
