Changing the shape of the lens in human eye model

Using the @pascoscientific adjustable lens in the human eye model and with ray boxes. Its great to be able to show the biology and physics students how the human eye lens works getting thicker and thinner rather than using fixed shaped lenses. #iteachphysics #teaching

The lens consists of two sheets of plastic with water in the middle and connected to a syringe. If water is pushed into the eye the lens gets fatter and becomes convex in shape. As water is removed the lens becomes concave in shape.. Adjusting the amount of water changes the dioptre of the lens. Fascinating to watch and use.

New Light Source

My new @pascoscientific light box from @SciChemEdu arrived and now I can try to get the human eye model to work using this arrow arrangement on the light. Seems to be a good light source with different slits to try out. #iteachphysics

Ideal Gas Equipment to teach Gas Lws

Using the @pascoscientific Ideal Gas law equipment connected to a chemistry sensor and wireless interface connected to Capstone software from @SciChemEdu to explain the Gas laws to A Level students studying #Physics using this the Gas Laws are easily demonstrated. #iteachphysics

Glass Bending

Bending glass stirring rods to make petri dish spreaders for making a lawn of bacteria. Couldn't find any to buy so made my own. The students like learning to heat and bend glass to make useful parts. #STEM #microbiology

Teaching Moments

Teaching Moments in A level #Math and A level #Physics The concept is easier using the @pascoscientific Metre Stick Torque set. It is very sensitive and allows the students to visualise the forces easily. #iteachphysics

Shaking beads

A few beads in a box a @pascoscientific wireless thermometer from @SciChemEdu and a lot of shaking shows the temperature of the beads will increase as a result of the movement of the beads. #iteachphysics #Physics
